ACADEMIC DEGREES

United States Online University (USOU)  is a virtual global education system with no physical campus. The University does not offer academic degrees. USOU provides competency-based certificate programs with short-term credentials for individuals. USOU offers a full suite of training & development programs and services for corporations.

Why USOU does not offer academic degrees

  • We are convinced that the time to learn in advance is over. Nowadays everyone has free, on-demand access to all relevant knowledge through the Internet.
  • Many companies, such as Apple, Google, IBM, Bank of America, and Netflix no longer require 4-year degrees from jobseekers, as the knowledge acquired is mostly outdated and offers no practical use.
  • Companies opened their own universities with timely and practical curricula and programs taught by experienced practitioners. They teach specialized competencies in 3 to 6 months.
  • Companies want more control and expect short-term programs (1 to 6 months) from external providers to develop critical skills that cannot be developed in-house.
  • Traditional academic teaching methods are outdated and must be replaced by self-directed digital learning and qualified learning support.

USOU and AATD developed the Competency Performance System that makes it possible to provide meaningful credit for competency-based and performance-driven interventions.

ACCREDITATION

USOU is accredited by the Accrediting Alliance for Training and Development (AATD). As a private, independent accrediting agency, AATD specializes in the accreditation of universities, training institutes, training departments, corporate universities, trainers, consultants, and coaches.
